Civic Engagement, Intersectionality & Well-Being in Higher Education: The Vital Role of Social-Emotional Learning & Development

Description:

The Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University has launched an Initiative on Social-Emotional Learning and Civic Engagement (SEL-CE), pursuing research, faculty development, curriculum, and pedagogy that integrates ethical civic engagement, well-being, and inclusive excellence.  The SEL-CE seeks to understand the interdependence between social-emotional learning and civic development and to strengthen the interconnections between them.  Bringing Theory to Practic has funded this important, integrative work with several grants, including a 2018 Campus Dialogue Grant that supported a workshop series, Fostering Emotional Intelligence and Inclusive Excellence at Tufts, that invited participants to identify both barriers to and potential supports for equity and well-being on campus.
