Civic Provocations

The first volume is Civic Provocations, a collection of “informal essays and provocations that support and deepen inclusive and intentional campus-based consideration of an institution’s own civic mission and the civic mission of higher education today.”“Provocations” stir people to thought or action. They are neither regular nor routine; rather, they are new, or at least new notions of the old. At a time when democratic societies are changing – for example, in social diversity, economic inequalities, or information technology – what is, or should be, new in the civic mission of higher education? If we were to promote discussion and motivate action in response to this question, our purpose will be served.Press:
