"As a new four-credit course introducing students to research and theory in the field of community psychology while training them in community skills and simultaneously engaging them in a community campaign, Community Psychology fits well within the goals, values and mission of Curry College. Elements of Curry_s mission highlighted here include an emphasis on critical thinking and understanding context, both of which are stressed in the course content. The first half of the course, emphasizing self-reflection and knowledge, overlaps with the college_s goals of students defining their personal identity and examining value systems. And finally, communicating effectively, appreciating aesthetic experiences, and adapting and innovating are all crucial elements in our off-campus activities."
