"This proposal has two components: the creation of a Civic Leadership Certificate Program, and the introduction of an e-Portfolio system to Drew_s campus. The first component is meant to address an identified need to expand structured, multi-semester opportunities to build leadership and civic skills while addressing real-world problems in our communities. The second will provide an assessment and reflection tool implemented concurrently with the Civic Leadership Certificate that will be fully integrated with that program from its start. The e-Portfolio will also be adopted by programs in Civic Engagement, the College of Liberal Arts, Campus Life and Student Affairs, and the Center for Career Development. Together, these two components support an approach to undergraduate education that emphasizes the civic development of students though self-knowledge and ethical action for the greater good. This proposal seeks to build Drew_s capacity to further Bringing Theory to Practice_s goals of students_ personal growth and ability to pursue true civic engagement."
